S.1 Compo Research on Famous People
S.1 students have started their first research on famous people in the library. They gather important and interesting facts about the person they are going to write about in their composition from books as well as electronic resources like Worldbook Online Encyclopedia. In this exercise, not only can they practise the research skills they learn in the library program, they are also able to enrich the content of their English Composition writing.

(Cherry Lui, 4A 20)
(Iris Poon, 4A 23)

S.1-3 Reading Circles
"Literature circles are a topic of interest to various literacy educators, and their use has been discussed in a variety of academic journals, conference papers, and workshops. Teachers at all grade levels utilize literature circles as a vehicle through which students learn to: think critically about literature, express their ideas in oral and written forms, and better enjoy their literacy experiences. "
Our Reading Circles are a modified version of the Literature Circles. Small groups of students meet regularly to discuss about the books they are reading. Parents help as leaders/facilitators. Group meetings aim to be open, so natural conversations about books, personal connections, digressions, and open-ended questions are welcome. Students take responsibility in their reading and construct meaning together in the group discussion.
